Neary sprints to victor at Oulton Park

It was two out of two for Richard Neary on Saturday 23rd June when the Dunlop Endurance Championship took the series to Cheshire's Oulton Park.

In what could have been an emotional outing for Neary, with his 16 year old son making his Britcar debut at Oulton Park in the same race, the Lancashire born driver racing his home circuit, took the Sprint category win in the opening 50 minute race.

In a day full of surprises with some teams working hard to get the cars ready after issues in Race One, Richard Neary's Mercedes headed the field into Old Hall at the rolling start of the second race, submitting the lead to pro-driver Ross Wylie in the FF Corse Ferrari 458 after three laps.

However deployment of the safety car was a game-changer for the Sprint contingent. Although just seven laps into the race it was a little too early for the two-driver Sprint runners to take their mandatory stop, however fine for the singleton drivers, who took the opportunity to pit.

Neary and Wylie both took the decision to pit with Wylie bringing in the Ferrari for Mason to take over, knowing that he would have to get back in for a few minutes before the end of the 50 minute race. In a move that didn't pay off Wylie took over Mason's Ferrari for the final five minute dash, but it was Richard Neary once again who triumphed.

The day had an added high for Neary - who couldn't have been more proud to witness a solid job by his teenager son Sam Neary who finished a respectable 17th and 11th in his first Britcar Outing.
