Back to winning ways for Team Abba Racing

Team Abba Racing were back on the podium this weekend (26th June) taking third place overall and 1st in Silver-Am class in the Intelligent Money British GT3 Championship at Snetterton.

Having suffered a Parc Ferme infringement which saw their last podium at Silverstone taken away, Team Abba Racing was keen to demonstrate their ability and pace at Snetterton.

The Team Abba Racing AMG GT3 Mercedes ran in the top three in testing and Free Practice earlier in the weekend, however the team suffered a disappointing qualifying session which left them 8th on the grid for the opening race.

Warm up saw Sam Neary in P1 and demonstrating the team’s pace for the day and the ‘kings of the comeback’ didn’t disappoint in race one.

Richard Neary took the car to P6 in the first 25 minutes and when the driver change washed out Sam Neary was in P4. He defended his position for the next 35 minutes of the race, finally finishing P3 overall and 1st in Silver Am class.

Commenting on the weekend’s performance, Richard Neary said: “That was a great result for the team. The car is handling really well and our race day strategy is clearly delivering. After what has been a few difficult race weekends for Team Abba, the results at Oulton Park and Silverstone and here today demonstrate that we have a winning formula. As a driver coach, Sam Neary continues to push the learning curve for me and undoubtedly, he is maturing as a GT driver himself.

“We are looking forward to Spa in July, where we don’t carry over any pitstop penalties and want to continue our run of podium finishes.”

British GT returns to Spa on 23rd/24th July.

Team Abba Racing is a small family run race team based in Lancashire. More information about Sam Neary is available at www.samnearyracing.com
