Teenager Neary achieves class podium in first endurance race

Team Abba Racing's Sam Neary* took the podium in Spa this weekend (Saturday 13th October) following the Team's 3rd in class (SP3) performance at this year's Creventic 12hr Endurance race at Spa.

The team consisting of British GT drivers Ian Stinton and Richard Neary were joined in victory by 'newbie' driver Sam Neary, just 16 and with only a dozen races to his name.

Despite a few mechanical issues and racing incidents on track the team drove the car to a podium position at what was the final Creventic race of the season.

Commenting upon the team's success, Richard Neary said:"This is a fantastic way to end the season at Team Abba Racing. Ian delivered a flawless performance while Sam drove the race of his life, quite literally, never having raced a car for more than 50 minutes in the past. This was quite a challenge for him but one I am proud to say that he stepped up to and I hope will set him on the road to bigger and better things next season."

Team Abba Racing is currently finalising its plans for 2019 and will issue its racing calendar shortly.

* Sam Neary at just 16 achieved his International race licence in September 2018 in time to take part in the Spa 12hr endurance race in October. Sam is currently studying at Loughborough College and is part of the MSA Academy AASE programme. Last November he took part in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series which was his first time competing in a racing championship. Having completed his GCSE's this summer he is looking forward to a full season's racing in 2019.
